The Pupil Premium (Funding for Disadvantaged Pupils) is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children and to ensure they benefit from the same opportunities as all other children.
The three categories of children that qualify for pupil premium are:
- children who are entitled to free school meals (FSM);
- those children looked after by the local authority (CLA);
- children with parents in the armed forces.
It is the job of the Pupil Premium Lead to plan the three-year Pupil Premium strategy, and to monitor and evaluate the impact that the strategies have in ensuring that all pupils can be the best that they can be during their time here.
